Gall-y the Bladder is out!

Monday the 20th

Went to the hospital for a gall bladder operation. I am happy to announce that I no longer have gall stones. All this was done in preparation for the kidney transplant that will take place in the near future. Getting old can sometimes be a bummer, but what can you do? When you need an overhaul, you need an overhaul!

On a more serious thought, the operation went well and I am recovering quite nicely. Mary and I thought we would set up a blog to keep all of you updated as thing go on because it is easier to let all of you know though the blog how things are going. When I get the kidney transplant, we will post information because I will not be able to receive visitors for a while, at least until my immune system is rebuilt. We will post information on the progress through the blog.

I want to thank all of you who have been praying for me. I am truly blessed to have so many caring friends and family. I was commenting to Mary that some people go years waiting for a kidney, and others have to do through dialysis for a long time. I have been blessed in that I have not had to have dialysis as of yet, and that many of you volunteered to donate a kidney for me. What a blessing it is to have such a caring family.

Sunday afternoon I went to dad's house and asked for a blessing. It was great to be able to receive a priesthood blessing from him. He is almost 90 years old and was on his way out the door to do his home teaching. As soon as he gave me the blessing, I knew that all would be well. I felt a calm and an assurance that the operation would be a success, and it was! The priesthood is the power of God, and it works.

Jared, my second son, went in first to be tested and he is a compatible donor, so we will proceed with the operation as soon as I heal from the gall-bladder removal.

I went for a walk outside today, to help with the healing process. Things are on the mend!

Once again, I want to thank all of you who have called to wish me well and all who have secretly prayed for me. I have recieved many wonderful and uplifting thoughts from many of you. Thanks
