Pin Cushion/Cochoncito de alfileres

I think I know what a pin cushion feels like! This week I have been poked and prodded and stuck so much that I feel like a pin cushion. The poor nurse that was to start my I-v could not find a good vein on my right arm. She poked a couple of times and was not able to locate a good vein so she went to the left arm and in the process found a bleeder that almost knocked me out just from the sight of the blood. I think I know now why I never went into medical school, the sight of blood makes me faint. Today I go in for a Procrit shot to help boost my red blood count.

Today I woke up from another great night sleep. It has been so long since I have slept so much. Yesterday I woke around 7:30 a.m. and felt refreshed, but as the day wore on, I got really tired and just moped around. I told Mary that I wanted to go for a walk and she insisted that I needed to rest, being the good nurse that she is, I obeyed her and stayed home.

A good friend of mine, who has since passed away, John Ricks, carved a walking stick for me when we worked together at Indian Hills Middle. Mary has asked me to use it to help support me while I am walking. I have included a picture of the walking stick for you to see. I really like it. I think I will take her up on it, though it feels like I am carrying some extra weight, I will take it along.

I appreciate all the well wishes that I have received from you. Keep up the jokes, and thoughts and prayers.

Gracias.
